Dressed up dogs!

Why do people dress up their dogs?

I am sure there are MORE reasons why people do it then I will list here.

For some dogs it is actual protection from the cold. Short haired dogs do get cold in the winter. It doesn't matter if they are small or large, they get cold. When you take your dog from a nice warm house to the freezing cold, it gets cold. I am sure you do to. Also, for places that get cold enough that the sidewalks freeze, there are salts and chemicals used to keep the sidewalks from icing up. Doggies shoes protect the paws from the salt and chemicals.

For others, their pup is their furry child. One dresses up their furry child. This is a bonding moment for the parent. It also gives the puppy parent an outlet to express themselves. Their furry child is part of their family and clothing helps to illustrates that. They want to show off their pup just like they would with their own child.

For some it is a status simple. Not only do they have this very expensive rare breed dog, but this dog is wearing ultra expensive designer clothing.

For some the dogs beg to wear the clothing. For them it is when they get pampered by their owner. They get to be pampered, and to be the center of attention. Many small breed dogs are breed to be companion dogs. As companion dogs they lap up all the attention they can get from their humans. Dressing up is part of that. They get to dress up and be fussed over. Some doggies will even pose in their outfits. I know of one dog who will actually pick out her own outfits. She will throw a temper tantrum until she gets the outfit she wants. Then after it is put on her, she will will prance around like she is the queen of England.

just say no to chocolate chips!

I made banana bread today. My fiance, he likes chocolate. When I was making the banana bread he called and asked what I was doing. After I told him, he asked if I would add chocolate chips. My mistake was listening to him. Don't ever do it. It is the nasty thing I ever tried in my life!!!!

Cookin up a storm

So today I got a bug up my butt and decided to bake. I started with banana bread. My man is gonna love me when he gets home from work. He loves the banana bread. Well, making banana bread didn't cure the baking itch so dug into my doggie cookbook and made a bunch of p-nut butter doggie biscotti. My house smells like p-nut butter now! I am waiting for them to finish baking so I can coat them with Carob. My dogs LOVE these biscotti. I decided to add them for sale at my store. I am sure other pups would love biscotti too. They just don't know it yet.

If you think your doggie would like doggie biscotti too, come to my website Juniboutique.com and check it out. Only do it later today, maybe about 5. I need to finish making them and then post them on the site :D

First Day

First day

Today I am creating my first online Blog. Just trying to figure it all out. I have a lot to say. Well, some days I have a lot to say.

A little about me. I live in Virginia Beach. I own a small online shop, Juniboutique.com. It is a boutique for dogs. My life revolves around my pets. Right now we have only two dogs. Before we moved we had 3 dogs and a cat. I had to put my cat to sleep about a month before we moved. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I had her for 18 years. My whole adult life. The 3rd dog stayed in the Puget Sound area with my fiance's children. They wanted to keep one of their dogs and their mother agreed to take the smallest pup. So we have with us Mollie who is a Austrian Blue Healer (dingo) and German Shepard mix. And we have Medved who is an Akita mix. Both of which were pound puppy rescues. The one who stayed with the kids is named Missy and she is a Maltese.

Some day when I am done grieving for my kitty, I will get another one. Occassionally I will stop at the humane society ( http://www.hsus.org/) and look at the kitties, but I tear up shorty after seeing the first kitty. I am just not ready yet. But soon, my life is empty without a kitty purrying. Until then, I have the pups. They are my furry children.

Go check out my website, let me know whatcha think. Juniboutique.com
